Week 13 football tournament final

Students from wolf class made it to the final of this semesters In class football tournament. The final was very good with some very good goals. Wolf class played extremely well and should of won the final after a great goal by Abdurahman to make it 3-2 with 5 minutes to go. But an own goal in the dying seconds and penalty shootouts not going their way meant they were beaten finalist.

We are all proud of them as in my opinion they were the best team of the tournament this year. Well done wolf class !!

Week 12/13: Making excuses for invitations

Students in pairs had to practice inviting their fellow student to go to do something together. The second student then had to use vocabulary learnt to make an excuse for not being able to come.

Examples : "I am not feeling well", "I am at work" " and "I am very busy with my family right now!"

Students enjoyed making plans with a friend by doing a telephone call role play. Students had to include information such as time time. place, what, how and with who. Mr Oybek was observing the class so we had the opportunity to do the role play with him. 😃

week 11 Roleplay ordering a meal!

A fun roleplay ordering a meal using requests and suggestions. Following from our field trip students had to make a full conversation and perform a roleplay of four customers and one waiter giving and taking orders.

We also used the menus we made in the previous lesson. I liked the way students improvised and added to the conversation while performing the roleplay.

Week 11: making a menu

Students had to make a menu for their own restaurant. They had to think of prices different food and drink type (starters main meals and desserts) special offers and a company logo.

Week 11 Field trip: Ordering food

Me and Mr Michael took the students on a field trip in class two to a local restaurant to practice vocabulary we have been teaching in the classroom. Students had to order their breakfast in English using requests ( can may and could ) and even asking the waiter for suggestions.

The outside of the classroom practice helps the students builds confidence and helps them put the language into practice. Students will then talk about their experience and the food they ate in front of the class at the end of the week.

Students enjoyed the food too as they don't normally eat American style breakfasts. Good job students I hope you all enjoyed the field trip.

Week 10 Being sick: Different illnesses

Students did not know the names of illnesses in English. So they were all given this paper and in groups discussed what the illnesses were.

We then discussed in our groups what we should do and what we shouldn't do with each illness.

Week 10 Pair work: reading a conversation and telling their partners.

Students were put into pairs. One student had to read a conversation about being sick and say it to their partners on the other side of the room without shouting it out. This is a good memory test for students. This also uses speaking listening and helps with spelling and punctuation.

Students enjoyed the activity as it got them out of their seats!!
